AFFIRMATIONS
Affirmations are statements, written in simple, present tense language, that summarize what you wish to be true, what you know can be true. Affirmations, spoken often and with conviction, help us to "try on" our ideals. They help us to make dreams come true by believing that they already are true.
The most effective affirmations are those stated in "win-win" terms. This means that they honor other people in our lives also.Stating affirmations over and over essentially "hypnotizes" us into accepting them. You might be amazed at how powerful affirmations can be as tools to help transform your behavior and your life.
Try creating a page of affirmations, and reading them aloud each morning, or whenever worries cloud your mind. It is also very healing to speak affirmations while looking at yourself in the mirror, and embodying the truth of your message through posture, voice tone and delivery. When you can speak affirmations and believe them, you know you are hitting the mark.
One of the most powerful affirmations I have ever learned came from Louise Hay's book You Can Heal Your Life. She describes an activity in which you are to say "I love you" while looking at yourself in the mirror. It is very powerful, and I recommend both the activity and her book.
